Lumen curated residency and exhibition in Grizedale, the Lake District between July and October 2018, supported by the Forestry Commission, Grizedale Sculpture and Lush Project Fund. Lumen and a group of artists selected through an open call, spent 3 days in Grizedale, responding to the naturally dark skies of the forest and considering it’s relationship to the lands and activities at the forest boundary.
During this residency, Lumen were particularly keen to highlight the importance of preserving dark sky areas, raising awareness of the ecological problems caused by light pollution. The work I created for this residency and exhibition was photographic and text-based, considering the interplay of human and nonhuman activity through the different stages of twilight.
