Based upon the ‘empathy’ timeline by Waag, the ‘sensitivity timeline’, is an aural and tactile tool currently being developed with UK charities, that draws out discussion around experience of day to night, and corresponding environmental details focusing on more-than-human species, with the aim of revealing that which we may otherwise not be able to see or experience with ‘standard’ visual measures.
The aim is to have a tool that works with individuals with different sensory requirements that can be easily translated with an accessible, textured design, additionally be available in screen readable format for online use. One of the outcomes of the timeline, would be for users to access alternative ways to describe and unravel what it is to be on Earth in relation to diurnal experience and climate change, exploring what it means to be ‘sensitive’ to our environment. A first iteration of the timeline is being developed in consultation with the Royal National Institute for Blind People, and material from the Thomas Pocklington Trust.
